Two agricultural products from Hai'an, Jiangsu, have been recognized in the 2024 second list of the National Famous, Special, Excellent, and New Agricultural Products, as announced by China's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. The honored products are Hai'an rice and eggs.

Hai'an, a green and high-quality agricultural production base, has led the Jiangsu province in rice yield per unit area for 11 consecutive years. The region is home to 52 large rice processing enterprises with an annual processing capacity of 2.4 million metric tons. The "Hai'an Rice" brand, which holds a geographical indication certification, is prized for its plump, oval grains that produce fragrant, glossy, and satisfying cooked rice.

Hai'an is also renowned for its poultry farming, particularly its high-quality eggs. The region's unique climate contributes to the production of eggs rich in calcium and vitamin D. With 99.68 percent of its farms operating on a large scale and the recent integration of new smart devices across farms with over 100,000 laying hens, Hai'an processes 123,600 tons of fresh eggs annually.

These recognitions highlight Hai'an's commitment to producing top-tier agricultural products, further establishing its reputation as a leader in quality farming.
