PetroChina Jiangsu LNG Terminal hits record capacity amid summer heat

On Aug 1, a Qatar LNG vessel docked at PetroChina Jiangsu LNG Terminal at Yangkou Port, Rudong county, Nantong. Prior to the vessel's arrival, maritime engineers meticulously calibrated the ship's docking position to ensure its centerline aligned with the dock's centerline. This precise alignment is crucial for the proper connection of the unloading arm to the ship.

A 10-person crew then secured the vessel by linking ropes from the ship's bow and stern to the dock, preventing any lateral or back-and-forth movement of the ship.

"This summer has been notably different from previous years," said Zhu Binbin, manager of the production and operations center. "The terminal is operating at full capacity for the first time this summer, and the export volume of liquefied natural gas in July reached a historic high for this period."

To meet high demands during the summer heat, the center has optimized LNG vessel docking and LNG export processes through careful planning, while the maintenance center has utilized docking intervals for equipment repairs, ensuring optimal equipment performance.

Since the beginning of the summer, the terminal has repeatedly reached its maximum export capacity of 36 million cubic meters, providing robust support for stable energy supply in the Yangtze River Delta region.
