Tongzhou district in Nantong, Jiangsu province, has been actively cultivating emerging industries to propel the development of new quality productive forces.

Currently, the output values of key industries such as new-generation information technology, automobiles and components, and new energy in Tongzhou has surpassed 15 billion yuan ($2.07 billion) each. The district is currently home to 456 high-tech enterprises, the output value of which accounts for 53.1 percent of the district's total.

At the end of last year, the Jiangsu Leascend's 12 gigawatt heterojunction battery project, with a total investment of around 7 billion yuan, commenced construction in the district. This project, characterized by its large scale and superior quality, represents a significant milestone in Tongzhou's efforts to attract major projects in the photovoltaic industry, particularly in the field of heterojunction technology.

Tongzhou, as a pioneer in researching and planning the heterojunction technology sector, has now gathered nearly 20 significant industrial projects along the entire industrial chain, with a total investment exceeding 10 billion yuan. The Nantong National High-tech Industrial Development Zone plays a crucial role in attracting and nurturing key segments of the industrial chain, including materials, equipment, and components.

Currently, Tongzhou is accelerating the planning and construction of an Advanced Photovoltaic and New Energy Storage Industry Park, aiming to establish the country's first benchmark park for heterojunction photovoltaic cell production.

The planned area covers approximately 3,000 mu (200 hectares) and includes sectors for advanced photovoltaic cell manufacturing, equipment and material production, advanced energy storage manufacturing, and industry chain empowerment, and is equipped with specialized production facilities. It is projected that by 2030, the park's advanced photovoltaic industrial capacity will reach 30 GW.
