Situated at the confluence of the Yangtze River and the Yellow Sea, Haimen district in Nantong, Jiangsu province serves as a vital ecological barrier protecting the mouth of the Yangtze River and has been focusing on ecological restoration over the past few years.

The district's Linjiang New Area exemplifies its riverbank management efforts. A decade ago, it was an industrial park beset by environmental issues, but it has since evolved into a thriving hub for three key industries — biomedicine, electronic information and new materials, and cultural creativity.

Since 2020, Haimen has launched comprehensive improvements in the Qinglong Port area. These efforts include dredging the Qinglong River and its tributaries, eliminating polluting enterprises and port terminals, and renovating more than 10 old buildings along the river.

Additionally, 520,000 square meters of ecological forest land have been developed, revitalizing the century-old port.

Efforts to attract and nurture high-tech enterprises have been bolstered by the improved ecological environment. The Linjiang New Area has successfully attracted over 200 tech-driven enterprises.

Emerging industries such as next-generation information technology and life sciences have become defining features of the innovation belt along the river, showcasing Haimen's commitment to blending ecological conservation with scientific advancement.
