Dragon Oath, one of the most popular massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPG) in China, recently cooperated with Nantong in Jiangsu to revitalize the art of Nantong kites.

On April 28, a kite-flying event kicked off in the city.

Guo Chengyi, a practitioner of the Nantong national intangible cultural heritage item of banyao kite-making, and Xu Junhua, curator of Nantong Kite Museum, were invited to explain the unique art of kite-making in the city.

A dragon-shaped kite featuring images of the MMORPG's characters was made on-site by professional craftsmen as well as Dragon Oath players, hosts and cosplayers.

After finishing the kite, the guests were also invited to fly it and take a group photo to mark the occasion.

This event showcases Nantong's kite culture in a more vivid and interesting way, injecting new vitality to the intangible cultural heritage and improving its appeal among young people.
