Herculan Asia, the Asian branch of Herculan in the Netherlands, recently finalized an agreement to launch a high-tech new material manufacturing project for ship interiors in Haimen district, Nantong, Jiangsu province.

The 10-million-euro ($10.89 million) facility is set to lease a 1,500-square-meter single-story factory building to establish a wholly foreign-owned polyurethane environmentally friendly new material base for the ship industry.

This initiative aims to introduce more advanced material technologies from the Netherlands, achieve domestic substitution, reduce material costs, and cater to the cruise industry, high-end passenger roll-on/roll-off (Ro-Ro) vessels, roll-on/roll-off cargo ships, and high-end marine engineering projects in the Yangtze River Delta region.

A representative of Herculan Asia Company emphasized that the favorable development environment and strong technological capabilities in Haimen have laid a solid foundation for cooperation between the two parties.

Herculan Asia holds the distinction of being the first enterprise to officially introduce polyurethane ship flooring into China. Over the past several years the company has established the country's first independent construction team and has provided services for several key projects under China Merchants Group.
