Chinese guqin art was listed as a masterpiece of human oral and intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO in 2003. The Mei'an guqin art form found in Jiangsu's Nantong city is one of its schools.

During the past Spring Festival holiday, a raft of activities themed on the art was held at attractions, commerce districts, and other public places throughout the city.

From the first to the fifth day of the first lunar month of the Year of the Dragon, a master of Mei'an guqin art and her apprentices performed representative songs of the Nantong school of guqin art as well as other renowned guqin songs at the Haohe River scenic area.

The guqin master also explained the history and characteristics of Mei'an guqin art to the audience during breaks between the music.

Over the following three days, three Mei'an guqin-themed concerts were offered at the city's Stage Play School, or Linggong School. In addition to guqin solos, players performed instrumental ensembles as well as sang to the tunes.

On Chinese New Year's Eve, a New Year short video about Mei'an guqin art went on viral on the WeChat Moments of Nantong residents with a woman in hanfu playing the masterpiece Yulou Building with Scenes of Spring.
