A groundbreaking ceremony for the smart distribution center project of China Resources Nantong Pharmaceutical Co Ltd, located in the Chongchuan district of Nantong, Jiangsu province, took place on Jan 24.

With a total investment of 210 million yuan ($29.32 million), the project covers an area of approximately 40 mu (2.67 hectares). It plans to incorporate industry-leading logistics equipment such as box robots, conveyor lines, and sorting machines to establish the most advanced pharmaceutical logistics warehouse in the province.

Upon completion, the facility aims to handle an annual throughput of 8 million drug and medical device deliveries, with a warehouse capacity of 400,000 items. The project's annual sales revenue is projected to reach 4.8 billion yuan, contributing 55 million yuan in taxes.

In recent years, Chongchuan has positioned the life and health industry as a key focus for emerging industries. It is anticipated that within the next three to five years, a pharmaceutical logistics industry chain with a scale of 15 billion yuan will take shape in the district.
