The first magic course base in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, was established on the Zilang Lake Campus of the city's Zilang First Primary School on Nov 30. It is the first of its kind in Nantong.

At the founding ceremony, Ding Yang, a part-time associate professor at the School of Arts of Nantong University and a member of the Chinese Committee of Magic Arts, performed her signature magic trick "Dove Show" for students. She also invited some of them to perform magic tricks on stage with her.

Since September, Ding has come to the school every Thursday afternoon to demonstrate and teach magic tricks to students.

Wu Xuchun, vice-dean of the School of Arts at Nantong University, said that the magic course base is expected to help with comprehensive curriculum reform and fully unleash the vitality of the school's education and the growth potential of students.

Ding, known as the "White Dove Queen", is a magician from Nantong who has won the "Golden Chrysanthemum Award", the most prestigious award in magic. She was also named the "Allan Sleight International Rising Star Award" by a Canadian magical organization in 2019, becoming the first person in Jiangsu to receive the title.
