Qidong sees stable consumption market in Jan-Sept

The total retail sales of consumer goods in Qidong, a county-level city of Nantong in Jiangsu province, reached 38.83 billion yuan ($5.36 billion) from January to September, an increase of 9.2 percent year-on-year, according to the Qidong commerce bureau.
To stimulate consumption, the city held a series of promotional activities, including releasing consumer coupons, offering discounts and providing financial support. It is also focusing on key areas such as automobiles, household appliances and catering, and has taken advantage of holidays to stimulate consumption and provide more consumption options to residents.
The city's wholesale, retail and catering industries maintained strong growth momentum during this period, respectively achieving sales of 61.66 billion yuan, 29.62 billion yuan and 4.44 billion yuan, increases of 8.9 percent, 7.3 percent and 18.3 percent year-on-year.
The accommodation industry achieved a turnover of 515 million yuan, an uptick of 9.4 percent year-on-year.
The city will make full use of upcoming festivals and holidays to hold more consumption activities and stimulate consumption in the city.
