Qidong consumption booms during Spring Festival holiday
The consumer market in Qidong, Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, saw a year-on-year increase of 24.9 percent during the Spring Festival holiday, reaching 78 million yuan ($11.55 million) in sales revenue, according to the Qidong commerce bureau.
Commercial complexes integrating retail, catering, leisure and entertainment were the most popular places during the holiday.
The city's three commercial complexes held more than 10 promotional activities during the holiday, with sales exceeding 49 million yuan and more than 300,000 people visiting the complexes.
Sales of gold, silver and jewelry in Wuyue Square increased by more than 22.7 percent year-on-year, while sales of clothing increased by 21.41 percent. The catering revenue of Phoenix Plaza rose 28.2 percent year-on-year.
The city's total box office revenue exceeded 7.5 million yuan from Jan 22 to 27, with 140,000 moviegoers.
In the first four days of the holiday, the turnover of five key catering enterprises exceeded 3.5 million yuan, up nearly 25 percent year-on-year.
