The 5th Dongbuzhou International Animation Week, together with the 12th China Independent Animation Film Forum (CIAFF), was held in Haimen district, Nantong, Jiangsu province, on Oct 31.

The event was aimed at promoting exploration and research on animation creation, as well as trade and technology development in the animation industry.

This animation week has received many outstanding works from universities, animation studios, and independent animators from both domestic and international sources, with a total of 41 entries selected for the competition section.

Apart from screening, forum, and competition sections, the animation week has also added an animation market section to provide a platform and opportunities for animation industry creators, companies, and organizations, enhancing industry communication and cooperation.

The animation week was derived from the CIAFF which was initiated in 2011 by Pi San, an independent animation director, and was upgraded to its present form in 2019.

Haimen is currently home to nine animation projects engaged in animated films, animated series, independent animated short films, and animated short video series.
