Haimen district in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, witnessed a dramatic rebound in consumption during the just-concluded Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday, with sales of its 12 major supermarkets and shopping malls totaling 80.76 million yuan ($11.12 million), according to authorities.

This rebound is largely attributed to the implementation of a series of measures rolled out by local government, including electronic coupons, a series of activities to attract flocks of tourists, and subsidies for household appliance buyers.

Authorities distributed electronic coupons worth 2 million yuan, held more than 20 activities to attract 100,000 tourists, and offered 200 million yuan in subsidies to those who intended to buy household appliances over the holiday.

The district's Automobile Association organized a car exhibition and 17 car sales companies strengthened their promotion during the holiday. With the help of consumer vouchers, a total of 466 cars were sold, earning a total sales revenue of 57.54 million yuan, accounting for around 60 percent of the monthly sales volume and a year-on-year increase of 43.83 percent.

During the holiday, a total of 30,927 people stayed in 224 hotels in the district, an increase of 33.6 percent compared to the same period last year, and the occupancy rate has returned to the pre-pandemic level.
