Haimen district in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, has made significant strides in its new energy sector, with the output value of its large-scale new energy industries amounting to 10.27 billion yuan ($1.39 billion) in the first half of this year.
The strong performance was largely due to a series of efforts by authorities to attract projects related to wind energy, photovoltaic, stored energy and hydrogen energy, which will be pivotal to building a complete new energy industrial chain.
Huang Jianhui, head of the district's investment service center, said that authorities have dispatched a special task force to cities like Shanghai, Suzhou, and Changzhou to bring more high-quality new energy projects to Haimen.
Huang added that the local government has also held an array of activities including investment and trade fairs and promotional events to boost Haimen's new energy sector.
As a result, two major new energy projects with a combined investment of 5 billion yuan each were secured in the first half of this year, which are expected to significantly bolster the district's wind energy and photovoltaic industries.
