Grape harvest season has arrived in Jinsuo village in Haimen district, Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, with strings of grapes clinging to the branches.

The village has planted more than 2,000 mu (133.33 hectares) of 10 grape varieties, leading to annual output of 2,000 metric tons.

Song Bingxiang, who is in charge of the plantation, said that he has established a farmers' cooperative and mobilized more than 10 households to plant grapes, driving the per capita income of the village's residents to more than 50,000 yuan ($6,923.24).

The district has also been making efforts to expand sales channels for grapes through e-commerce platforms such as Taobao and Pinduduo.

Zeng Jianping, president of an agricultural technology co based in Haimen, pointed out that his company delivers 1,500 to 2,000 packs of grapes per day and he expects to sell more than 100,000 packs this year.

In addition, the local government has developed rural tourism products featuring grape picking, in hopes of increasing residents' incomes.

More residents are finding employment at the grape plantations. Cao Hongxia, a resident of Sannan village, said she can now make a living at her own home earning more than 3,000 yuan per month.

Authorities have also conducted technical training courses for grape planters and dispatched technical staff to plantations to offer guidance.
