Thousand Oaks Biopharmacy (Nantong) Co in Haimen district, Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, made the 2023 list of national unicorn enterprises, according to a report released on June 20, becoming the first enterprise in the district to achieve the feat.

A unicorn is a start-up founded less than 10 years ago, valued at more than $1 billion ($14.38 million), and boasting exclusive core technologies, products, services, or business models.

Thousand Oaks, established in 2017, is a contract development and manufacturing organization which manufactures macromolecular proteins.

Thousand Oaks has developed an integrated cost-control strategy that helps customers produce high-quality medicines at low costs. It also made the list of provincial unicorn enterprises and little giant enterprises.
