Visit Nantong Museum for Peking Opera-themed photo show

A Peking Opera-themed photo exhibition opened at Nantong Museum, Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, on June 26.

The exhibition showcases more than 60 photos of Peking Opera characters taken by Feng Xiaowei, who is also a drama performer.

Feng was inspired by the Peking Opera Red Cliff in 2008 to create the photo series. Feng said that it was his first time to watch traditional Peking Opera and he was impressed by the story, performance, costume, characters, and music.

Therefore, he wanted to record the beauty with photography, according to the artist. It took him nine years to complete the series and top-notch Peking Opera performers were invited to model for him.

After the exhibition closes the exhibits will be collected by Nantong Museum, the third donation by Feng of such volume after two others to the National Museum and the National Center for the Performing Arts.

The exhibition will last for two months, during which Wang Peiyu, national first-class performer, will be invited to interact with exhibition-goers.
