Authorities in Haimen district, Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, rolled out a three-year action plan aimed at bolstering the collective economy in its rural areas in 2022.

The collective income of the district's 238 villages was 316.34 million yuan ($45.52 million) in 2022, according to authorities.

This is largely due to individual villages taking advantage of their natural resources and geographical locations to develop collective economies.

Specifically, Yuelai town's Baomin village has implemented a series of measures, including holding training sessions on rice cultivation techniques, building high-standard farmland, and establishing cooperation with grain processing enterprises to bolster its rice industry.

Sanxing town's Dashi village, which is home to six enterprises above designated size and 40 small and medium-sized enterprises, established a housekeeping service company in 2019. The company brings in an annual income of 300,000 yuan to the village.

The village is also exploring means to develop its bottle gourd industry, including setting up a bottle gourd carving workshop and establishing cooperation with local home textile enterprises in order to expand the market.

In addition, four villages in Sanchang subdistrict are working together to take over a cold storage facility, which will support the villages' fruit and vegetable sectors.
