Authorities of Haimen district in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province have implemented a series of measures to strengthen its urban governance.
For example, the Sichoulu community has gathered representatives of stakeholders to come up with solutions for doing away with overhead wires, which are fire safety hazards.
Luo Xiangrong, Party secretary of the community, said that they decided to install an electricity meter in each household's garage following discussions by these representatives.
Authorities have also taken measures, including improving the sewer network, renovating road surface, upgrading power supply, water supply, drainage and sewage facilities, as well as introducing digital smart management system, to improve urban governance.
In addition, authorities started charging fees for 250 public parking spots on March 15 to increase the parking turnover rate in places near grocery markets, schools, hospitals and residential communities.
