Focusing on energy infrastructure construction, the island currently has four liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminals, one of which has already started operating. The other three are still under construction. This island also has two channels for 70,000 to 150,000-ton LNG tankers to navigate.

The operational terminal, PetroChina Jiangsu LNG terminal, has the largest storage capacity of its kind in the Yangtze River Delta region. With an annual unloading capacity of 7 million tons and a gas production capacity of over 9 billion cubic meters, the terminal can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 20 million tons per year.

After the other three terminals are completed, the annual LNG unloading capacity of Yangkou Port would exceed 20 million tons, in turn reducing carbon dioxide emissions by over 60 million tons every year.
