The PetroChina Jiangsu LNG terminal, a key national project located on Yangguang Island – an artificial island built by Yangkou Port in Rudong county in East China's Jiangsu province – delivered 4.2 billion cubic meters of natural gas to 300 million residents during the winter heating season, which lasted for 151 days this year.

The terminal, which is the first LNG terminal to start operations in Jiangsu province and the main peak-shaving station for emergency gas supply in East China, has smoothly completed the winter supply task for 12 consecutive years since it opened in 2011.

"During the winter heating season, the terminal received 35 ships and 3 million metric tons of liquefied natural gas, or LNG, maintaining a high-load production of 27 million cu m per day, and an average monthly gas output of 840 million cu m," said Miao Xiaochen, deputy general manager and safety director of the terminal.

The terminal is currently the largest LNG storage facility and has the strongest natural gas peak shaving capacity in the Yangtze River Delta region. It has six LNG tanks with a total storage capacity of 1.08 million cu m. During the winter peak period, it can guarantee gas production to 23 million households for one month.
