Built in the 40th year (1620) of the reign of Emperor Wanli of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), Wenfeng Tower is the tallest of the three towers in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province.

The tower was established to boost the cultural development of ancient Nantong, as there were no famous figures born in Nantong in the first 500 years after the city was established.

After the tower was built, many renowned literati, including Zhang Jian (1853-1926), who took the top spot in the annual national-level recruitment exams for officials, have come from the city.

With a height of 39 meters, the five-story Wenfeng Tower has bronze tiles, white walls and red pillars. Each layer is decorated with engravings resembling a dragon's head, celestial beings, and animals.

For Chuangchuan natives, Wenfeng Tower is more than a mere building – it represents their respect for their culture.

The tower is surrounded by cultural institutions, including the Nantong Calligraphy and Painting Academy, Geyi Art Museum, Textile Museum, and Wenfeng Park, making it an ideal place for locals to relax and enjoy themselves.
