Haimen expedites intelligent digital manufacturing

A total of 332 projects in Haimen district in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province achieved digital transformation and intelligent upgrading in 2022.

Among those that have undergone this transformation is Zenith Steel Group Company Limited.

Li Xinyu, who is in charge of information management at Zenith Steel, said that they can now conduct real-time remote monitoring of their workshops by using 5G, AI, internet of things, and big data technologies. 

He added that Zenith Steel has also introduced high-end robots, which have doubled production efficiency. 

Baosteel Jiangsu Magnetic Industry Co Ltd, a high-tech enterprises focused on producing powders for magnetic materials, is another enterprise that has undergone digital transformation and intelligent upgrading. 

The company has introduced two AGV intelligent handling robots that have greatly improved operation efficiency. 

Last year, Zenith Steel was recognized as a national demonstration intelligent factory, while two enterprises were listed as provincial demonstration intelligent factories and eight enterprises received recognition for their intelligent workshops.

Authorities have also been holding promotional events to encourage enterprises to become cloud native. The district is currently home to 84 cloud-native enterprises.

Authorities will sustain efforts to attract more major projects and high-quality service providers to boost development of its big data, cloud computing, optical fiber, and cable sectors this year. 

Gao Yu, deputy director of the district's development and reform commission, said that the district plans to nurture one national demonstration intelligent factory, two provincial demonstration intelligent factories, and more than 30 cloud-native enterprises by the end of 2023.
