Rudong, a county-level city in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, has in recent years made strides in developing its green economy, local media reported.

According to local authorities, introducing projects related to environmental protection is a priority for local development.

One of the projects is the Tongwei power station, which is currently under construction in the county.

The project involves the application of solar photovoltaic power in the aquaculture industry and the creation of an unmanned aquaculture model. It is expected to generate 75 million kWh of power after it starts operating.

Solar power generated by the project will use 21,750 fewer metric tons of standard coal, 90,000 fewer tons of carbon dioxide, and 337.5 fewer tons of sulfur dioxide than thermal power.

Official statistics show that the grid-connection volume generated by clean energy in the county has exceeded 13.01 billion kWh, which has resulted in the reduction of 3.77 million metric tons of standard coal and 15.61 million tons of carbon dioxide.
