Biodiversity survey shows improved ecological environment in Tongzhou

The results of a field survey on biodiversity that was conducted last year on Kaisha Island in Tongzhou district, Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, were recently released.

According to the survey, researchers spotted 43 species of birds on Kaisha Island, including tundra swan and common kestrel, which are under national second-class protection, last year.

The appearance of various bird species in Tongzhou was made possible by the improvement of the ecological environment in the district.

Tongzhou is now looking to continue the field survey on biodiversity to further determine the distribution, population, and living conditions of rare and endangered species in the district.
