Two villages in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, were recently listed among the sixth batch of provincial-level traditional villages.

Listed villages boast relatively abundant traditional resources, improved living environment, and relatively complete infrastructure and public service facilities.

Tuditang village in Yudong town, Haimen district was established during the emperor Qianlong period (1736-1795). A saying goes that a household will have a safe year when a celestial being enters the house, which refers to Tuditang.

With such a saying, Tuditang attracted numerous people nearby to pray for a good harvest each year. Local villagers then expanded Tuditang to a 1,200-meter street.
