To celebrate the 170th anniversary of the birth of Zhang Jian, Nantong organized a promotional event in Macao on Feb 24.

Performances themed on Zhang's dedication to business, education, culture, and charity were staged during the event, which was attended by more than 200 people from both Macao and Nantong.

The city launched the event themed on Zhang Jian's stories in 2017 and has held it in Beijing, Nanjing, and other cities. The events have been attended by more than 6,000 people and videos about them have been viewed 25 million times online over the past five years.

Zhang Jian (1853-1926) is a renowned patriot, industrial magnate, educator, and philanthropist in Nantong who devoted his whole life to developing local industries, education, and social welfare.
