Renowned artist holds personal exhibition in Nantong

An art exhibition of the works of Nantong-born artist Yuan Yunsheng recently kicked off at the Nantong Art Museum in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province.

The exhibition showcases a total of 655 sketches, oil paintings, and sculptures created by Yuan over the past 70 years.
These exhibits are divided into five categories – landscape sketches in Yunnan, creations during the year Yuan graduated from university, sketches before he entered university, artworks during his study in the US, and his sculpture works.

The exhibition will run until May 7 this year, during which 86-year-old Yuan is expected to appear in-person at the museum to talk with exhibition-goers.
"We have been discovering Nantong-born renowned artists," said Ren Mingxing, curator of the exhibition. "We hope to organize a complete and systematic exhibition to showcase the achievements of these artists."

Starting with Yuan Yunsheng's personal exhibition more such exhibitions will be held to fully tap into Nantong's culture and help locals better understand the history of Nantong and its art, noted the curator.
