The Chai kiln, also known as the firewood kiln, is named after a technique in which wood is used as fuel for a fire. It originated more than 3,000 years ago in the Zhou Dynasty (c.11th century-256 BC). This Chinese traditional ceramic technique fires clay in kilns using wood, flame, and ash to glaze pots.
