Haimen ramps up worker recruitment

Authorities in Haimen district in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province have taken measures to recruit workers in the wake of the Spring Festival holiday, which ended on Jan 27.
For example, authorities had on Jan 28 sent two delegations made up of representatives from 26 local enterprises to Shaanxi and Guizhou provinces to recruit workers, according to local media reports.
More than 2,000 jobs are expected to be offered by Haimen during the recruitment drive, and 516 jobseekers have signed initial agreements with recruiting enterprises, according to the authorities.
Authorities also held a three-day job fair from Jan 29 to 31, during which 181 companies offered more than 4,200 jobs related to fields such as manufacturing, logistics and electronic information.
Eight hundred and forty-seven jobseekers signed initial agreements with employers at the fair.
The livestream launched to promote the job fair drew more than 30,000 viewers.
In addition, authorities have established platforms for people facing employment difficulties and held a night job fair in a shopping mall to hire college graduates.
The district is now planning to hold more than 150 job fairs both online and offline this year, said a local official.
