Consumption rebounded strongly in Haimen district in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province during the Spring Festival holiday following the nation's optimization of its COVID-19 control measures.
Restaurants, car dealerships, shopping malls, supermarkets, and tourist attractions received an influx of consumers during the seven-day holiday, which ended on Jan 27.
This rebound is largely attributed to coupons issued by authorities and promotional sales rolled out by businesses, which greatly strengthened consumers' confidence, said a local official.
For example, the district's automobile society offered up to discounts of 40,000 yuan ($5,931.65) for the holiday period, with a Volkswagen 4S dealership receiving 28 orders, up 186 percent year-on-year.
Supermarket chain RT-Mart generated 6 million yuan in sales from Jan 22 to 26, a year-on-year increase of 10 percent.
In addition, the district held 45 cultural and tourism activities in its scenic spots, which received 50,000 visitors during the holiday.
