Calligraphy exhibition of Spring Festival couplets celebrates Year of the Rabbit
An exhibition of excellent works from the Nantong calligraphy competition for Spring Festival couplets is underway at the Nantong City Cultural Center in East China's Jiangsu province to celebrate the Year of the Rabbit, local media reported.
The exhibition features 40 Spring Festival couplet calligraphy works, including a work written by Zhao Yanguo, a famous calligrapher, as well as the curator of the Jiangsu Provincial Cultural Center.
The exhibition will run until Feb 5, according to the organizer.
Writing Spring Festival couplets is a traditional custom among Chinese people to express their hopes for the new year.
The Nantong calligraphy competition for Spring Festival couplets is a local brand activity to welcome the Chinese New Year and promote traditional culture. Participants of the competition are mainly calligraphy enthusiasts in Nantong.
