Rudong, a county-level city in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province generated 46.2 billion kWh wind power in the first 11 months of 2022, according to the county department of development and reform.

Compared with thermal power, the wind power generated in the Jan-November period in 2022 resulted in the reduction of 13.4 million metric tons of standard coal and 55.44 million tons of carbon dioxide.

Official statistics show that the grid-connection volume generated by wind power stations has exceeded the total electricity consumption of the county since last January.

The strong wind power generation in Rudong is a result of the county's efforts in advancing its wind power industries in recent years.

In 2006, the completion of the first wind power station in Rudong marked a new milestone in the wind power industry in the province.

In 2010, the county established the first wind power station in China that is located in an intertidal zone.

In 2016, a wind power station with the largest installed capacity in China was put into operation in Rudong.

In 2021, Rudong authorities started building 11 offshore wind power stations in the county.

To date, the total installed capacity of wind power stations in the county stands at 5.62 million kWh.
