Rudong makes strides in economic development

Rudong, a county-level city in Nantong, East China’s Jiangsu province, was ranked 31st in the list of China’s top 100 counties in 2022, up two places from last year.

This progress is a result of Rudong’s effort to boost its economy in recent years. 

In 2021, the county’s GDP reached 127.2 billion yuan ($18.22 billion), with the GDP per capita being over 140,000 yuan. 

That same year, the fiscal revenue of Rudong reached 6.9 billion yuan, one of the highest in Nantong. 

The county has formed comprehensive industrial chains for sectors including new energy, equipment manufacturing, new materials, security, food processing, new generation information technology, and life and healthcare. 

To date, there are 11 manufacturing enterprises in the county that pay over 100 million yuan in taxes.

Zhongtian Technology Group, one of the six listed enterprises in the county, is the largest manufacturer in Nantong.

Rudong authorities have also launched policies to boost the innovation drive of manufacturing enterprises. 

In 2021, there were 185 high-tech enterprises in Rudong. 

One of the most outstanding high-tech enterprises is CAC Nantong Chemical Co Ltd, which owns intellectual property rights in 26 countries and regions.

Due to its efforts to drive innovation, Rudong was named as a demonstration county for intellectual property rights in 2019.
