Construction on a textile cultural street is underway on the Education Road in Chongchuan district, Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province.

The street, spanning about 900 meters, is one of several renovation projects on Education Road.

According to district authorities, five school gates from different periods will be built on the street to show the history of the Jiangsu College of Engineering and Technology, whose predecessor was the first textile-focused school in China.

In addition, a series of public facilities and sculptures themed on textile culture will be built on both sides of the street.

So far, 80 percent of the street surface pavement has been completed.

Next, authorities will focus on upgrading landscapes and renovating the stores along the street.

The street is expected to be presented at the beginning of December.
