Chongchuan district in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, has been taking steps to strengthen its efforts in promoting garbage classification this year, local media reported.

In July, the district spent 2.6 million yuan ($366,360) to add eight waste transfer stations and 20 garbage classification spots.

Each waste transfer station covers an area of 600 to 1,000 square meters and is located far away from residential communities, while every garbage classification spot measures about 50 square meters and is located near residential communities.

The construction of all the waste transfer stations and garbage classification spots in the district has been completed.

"We will provide full coverage of waste transfer stations and garbage classification spots in the district within three years," said Zhai Weidong, an official of Chongchuan urban management bureau.
