The Nantong Eminent Figures Museum recently hosted an exhibition to mark the 140th anniversary of the birth of architect Sun Zhixia.
The exhibition introduces Sun via photos and words and will last until Sept 20.
Born in Nantong in 1882, Sun was in charge of the design and construction of the Jiangsu Provincial Advisory Bureau building and the Nantong General Chamber of Commerce building, both of which can be found in A Brief History of Modern Chinese Architecture.
Sun also established a number of symbolic buildings in Nantong, among which the Gengsu Theater was the largest and still functions to this day.
Sun integrates classic Chinese and western architectural style in his designs, making them both artistic and practical.
