The district's Linjiang New Area was a traditional farming town in 2008 and has since developed into a science park with a 200,000-square-meter biomedical science innovation park and an 180,000-square-meter international small and medium-sized enterprise park.
The biomedical science innovation park has gathered more than 200 biomedical enterprises and built a complete biomedical industrial chain covering drug research and development, bulk drugs, pharmaceutical preparations, tablets and new medical materials.
In 2019, the Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Sciences and Haimen government jointly established the Haimen Yangtze Delta Drug Advanced Research Institute, which provides a talent pool for biomedical enterprises in the park.
Linjiang New Area is now home to more than 200 science and technology enterprises and more than 5,000 talents and has formed three major industrial focuses: biomedicine, electronic information and new materials, and cultural creativity.
