The terminals in the Qibu port area of Lyusi Port in Qidong, Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, has received and unloaded 45 foreign ships, generating a total revenue of 50 million yuan ($7.34 million) since it began operating on Dec 22 last year.

With 206 kilometers of coastline, Nantong is the only city in Jiangsu that is located along both a river and a sea. However, in the past, Nantong had no large deep-water harbors or public terminals, hampering the city's transportation system.

In 2015, Lyusi Port cooperated with Shanghai Zhenhua Port Machinery Co Ltd and CCCC Tianjin Dredging Co Ltd to begin construction on the port.

Currently, among the seven cooperation sub-projects, four have been completed, including the reclamation of the east and west port pools, the connecting section of the north embankment, the supporting project of the port area and the building materials terminal of the east port pool, costing a total of 2 billion yuan.

In addition, the land area of Lyusi Port now spans 28 square kilometers.

By the end of this month, the two 100,000-ton container berths in Qibu port area are expected to officially be put into operation. The entire Qibu port area currently has a deep-water coastline of 22 km, and more than 60 deep-water berths of 50,000 to 100,000 metric tons can be constructed.
