Rudong, a county in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, has in recent years ramped up the construction of a national demonstration county in the green energy industry.
Since the PetroChina Jiangsu LNG Terminal at Yangkou Port was put into operation in 2011, the largest clean energy supply base in East China has received 545 LNG carriers from 25 countries and regions and delivered 64.9 billion cubic meters of natural gas, the equivalent to 80 million metric tons of coal.
In early July, the LNG terminal received its 40th LNG carrier loaded with 160,000 cubic meters of LNG.
Aiming to become the largest LNG receiving, unloading, storage, supply and marketing base in China, Yangkou Port is accelerating the construction of three major projects, including two LNG receiving stations.
By the end of 2025, the port is expected to handle more than 20 million tons of LNG per year and its annual taxable sales are expected to exceed 100 billion yuan ($14.75 billion).
Rudong has also accelerated the intelligent transformation of local manufacturing enterprises to improve production efficiency and lower energy consumption.
For example, Jiangdong Technology Co Ltd owns the first intelligent factory in China's optical fiber industry. Its optical fiber drawing machines are capable of producing 2,968 meters of optical fiber per minute and in the first half of this year, Jiangdong's taxable sales saw a stable increase to 335 million yuan.
