The Rudong Economic Development Zone – located in Rudong county, administered by Nantong city in East China's Jiangsu province – has taken the initiative to implement a campaign this year to boost its industrial development.
To bolster its technical innovation, a number of deputies to the National People's Congress and business representatives have pushed hard to advance the program.
One prime example is Jiangsu Hanvo Safety Product Co Ltd. A leading company in the safety sector in Rudong, it has chosen to expand into environmental protection, management and product development and increase its investments, to introduce world-class equipment.
The company's chairman Wang Xianhua is an NPC deputy at both the city and county levels. In March, the supplies of raw materials were blocked due to the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic in East China's Shanghai and the supply chain of most enterprises in Rudong was hit.
Needing to respond, Wang – together with people in charge of two other leading firms in Rudong – took the initiative to negotiate with the county's government leaders and an expressway exit in Matang town was especially opened for trucks to transport raw materials from Shanghai.
Moving forward, plans are for the Rudong Economic Development Zone to promulgate the development of leading enterprises – in terms of transformation, upgrading and recruitment – in order to help them resolve their problems and upgrade their industries.
