Rudong stages shopping promotions to boost spending
The 2022 Colorful Rudong, Happy Life shopping promotion event – sponsored by the Rudong county Party committee and the local government – was launched on July 29, with over 300 kinds of premium specialties making a debut.
Rudong county – under the administration of Nantong city, in East China's Jiangsu province – is hoping that this and other promotions will stimulate consumer spending in the region.
"These are Cuiguan pears grown by the Tieshan Family Farm in Fengli town and they taste sweet, crispy and juicy," internet celebrity Xu Liangyun, known online as the "Wheelchair Sister", told her fans in a livestreaming session.
Initiatives like these are yielding significant and immediate results.
"It was unexpected that the livestreaming would bring such good sales," said a delighted Chen Nuo, who is in charge of the farm.
"We picked more than 600 kilograms of pears today and they sold out within half an hour," Chen added. "So we called for three more batches, which also sold out."

In addition to pears, the specialties on display also included selenium-rich corn, hens, rice and other produces.
Integrating on-site displays and online marketing, the shopping promotion included eight major focuses on things like premium specialties, automobiles and gastronomic delicacies.
