A bright and breezy food and music festival, as well as a bustling shopping festival, were staged on July 1 in the Rudong county cultural center – located in Rudong county, administered by Nantong city in East China's Jiangsu province.
Luo Bin, an inheritor of Rudong dough sculptures – a municipal intangible cultural heritage craft in Nantong – gave a talk about it and demonstrated how to make the vivid figurines at the shopping festival, which featured handicrafts.
The hosting of the food and music festival and the shopping festival signaled the opening of the second Rudong county culture and tourism festival. At the opening ceremony, 10 county-level model activities for cultural and tourism were released, while 10 projects were given awards as county-level models of intangible cultural heritage.
What's more, the Rudong culture, radio, television and tourism bureau released four new travel routes for leisure and wellness, special parent-child trips, as well as for journeys to the countryside and to see red culture.
Rudong is famous for its seafood, hot springs, the longevity of its locals and for green energy. It has won the title of "Hometown of Chinese Folk Culture and Art" five times.
In recent years, the county has been committed itself to promoting the integration of its cultural and tourism resources, as well as vigorously developing its traditional culture.
