Haimen residents' deposits see sustainable growth
The deposits of residents in Haimen district, Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, totaled 124.03 billion yuan ($18.55 billion) in 2021, 2.55 times the amount 10 years ago, according to official data.
In 2021, Haimen's per capita deposits reached 125,000 yuan.
Official data showed that more than 70 percent of the incomes of urban and rural residents of the district were in the form of wages.
To increase the wage incomes of residents, Haimen has provided a lot of employment space.
In 2021, the district signed agreements for 116 new projects receiving over 170 billion yuan in investment.
From 2016 to 2021, over 208,000 locals were employed, of which more than 31,000 jobs per year on average were provided by Haimen.
Meanwhile, Haimen helps an average of 3,900 people start their own businesses every year, creating 20,000 jobs. By the end of 2021, the number of employed people in the district had reached 216,600.
In addition, to increase incomes of rural residents, construction began on 61 major agricultural and rural projects in 2020, with a total investment of over 20 billion yuan.
In 2021, the disposable income of urban residents was 59,183 yuan, while that of rural residents was 32,307 yuan.
