The opening ceremony of the Haimen Youxi Jianghai Culture and Drama Festival was held on May 21 at the Haimen Grand Theater in Haimen district, Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, according to local media reports.

At the event, free tickets to performances were distributed to front-line medical workers from Haimen fighting against the epidemic in Shanghai in a show of gratitude.

According to official data, the Haimen Grand Theater has held 10 performances and received nearly 10,000 visitors since its first performance was held on Jan 3.

The three-month Jianghai Culture and Drama Festival is divided into four sections: Classic Reproduction, Poly City Island Music Festival, Citizens Concert and Children's Day Fair, involving dramas, children's plays and concerts.

In addition, the Haimen Grand Theater also prepared a variety of public welfare activities, such as a script reading of Thunderstorm and a backstage tour of The Place of White Deer.
