The signing ceremony for a landmark project on gravitational energy storage and related equipment manufacturing was held on May 20.
To be co-constructed by China Tianying Inc, or CNTY and Jiangsu Suzhong Construction Group Co Ltd – both based in the county-level city of Hai'an, administered by Nantong in East China's Jiangsu province – the project has generated immense excitement.
That's because it is the world's first 100-megawatt hour, or MWh, gravitational energy storage project and is the first of its kind in China.
CNTY is a resident enterprise in Hai'an which specializes in the development of advanced incineration and pollution control, plasma gasification and melting and in other related key technology research.
Focusing on industrial and civil buildings, Suzhong Construction is a leading construction enterprise in China which integrates architectural design, equipment installation, decorations, municipal public works, fire protection engineering and overseas engineering businesses.
Hai'an mayor Tan Zhen told the ceremony that the two groups should further integrate their cutting-edge resources, seek cooperation in wider fields such as environmental protection infrastructure, work together to explore more emerging markets at home and abroad, as well as realize win-win development.
On completion, the project is expected to play an important role in realizing the high-quality utilization of renewable energy and in building a zero-carbon energy demonstration center in the Yangtze River Delta region.
