As an important supplier of agricultural products to Shanghai, Nantong in East China's Jiangsu province will send five batches of vegetables to Shanghai over the following days, local media reported on April 12.

The first 1,500 metric tons of vegetables, or 250,000 packs of vegetables, were delivered to Pudong district, Shanghai today.

Each pack includes six different fresh vegetables, including cabbage, baby cabbage, organic cauliflower, potato, onion, and cucumber, which can satisfy one household for about three days.

These vegetables are mainly from local vegetable bases, Yunnan province, Northeast China, and other places.

To alleviate the pressure of distribution in Shanghai, Nantong's downtown area, Hai'an, Rudong and other five distribution centers in the city will transport these vegetables to eight different distribution centers in Pudong.

Shanghai has entered the 12th day of a citywide lockdown aimed at containing its worst COVID-19 outbreak which, as of 10 am on April 12, has resulted in more than 13,281 confirmed cases since March 1.
