Phase four of Jiangsu Hengke Advanced Materials Co Ltd's distributed photovoltaic power generation project started operating on March 10 in Tongzhou district – administered by Nantong in East China's Jiangsu province, with a total installed capacity of 29.2 megawatts.

After coming into production, the project is expected to help save more than 32 million kilowatt hours of electricity annually, saving 12,848 tons of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 32,023 tons.

The Tongzhou district became one of the national pilot counties, cities and districts for the development of rooftop solar panel power generation last September.

In February this year, the pilot work was officially launched, with four enterprises reaching cooperative intentions with the Tongzhou district government to seek the development path of clean energy in the future.

As the lead partner in the project, the Tongzhou branch of State Grid Jiangsu Electric Power Co Ltd set up a special working team to promote the power generation by solar panels installed on the rooftops.

Moving forward, led by its goal of ensuring the security of energy and contributing to the country's pledge of reaching peak carbon emissions by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2060, Tongzhou district plans to promote the optimization of its energy infrastructure.
