​Haimen sees stable grain output

The total grain output in Haimen district, Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, reached 251,784 metric tons in 2021, an increase of 55 tons year-on-year, according to the Haimen investigation team of the National Bureau of Statistics.

The growth rate in grain output was the same as the previous year and the output has remained stable for the past seven years.

In 2021, the district had 792,300 mu (52,820 hectares) of grain crops, up 0.1 percent year-on-year. There was 319,350 mu of summer harvest grain, up 0.1 percent year-on-year, and 472,950 mu of autumn harvest grain, an increase of 0.2 percent year-on-year.

The average yield per mu in the district was 317.8 kilograms, down 0.1 percent year-on-year due to the climate. The yield of wheat per mu was 316.8 kg, down 0.8 percent and the yield of rice per mu was 590 kg, down 1 percent.

In addition, the cultivation area of rice and wheat accounted for 33.8 percent of the district's total, up 14.1 percent and 0.3 percent respectively in 2021.
