Goatmeat dishes in Nantong
Nantong in East China's Jiangsu province has a long history of eating goatmeat and is home to a special goatmeat culture.

According to insiders in the city's catering industry, goatmeat dishes in the city can be divided into Nantong school, Haimen school, Rugao school and Hai'an school, each of which has their own popular restaurants.
Nantong school goatmeat dishes can be found in Lujinggang village, Tangzha town, and Gaodian village in downtown Nantong, as well as the towns of Xingren and Dongshe in Tongzhou district.

Goatmeat restaurants in Lujinggang village boast the longest history, with some of them being 100 years old.
The Haimen school includes goatmeat dishes made in Haimen and Qidong, while Haimen braised goatmeat with soy sauce is the most famous due its tender texture and fat but not greasy meat.
Rugao-school goatmeat dishes are most famously found in Rugao's Wuyao town, which is reputed as the home of the goat. With a developed goatmeat processing industry, Wuyao attracts more than 100,000 goatmeat enthusiasts every year.

The Hai'an school consists of goatmeat dishes made in Hai'an. Dingsuo villagers have been eating goatmeat since the Tang Dynasty (618-907), while goatmeat dishes in Qutang town have a history of more than 100 years and are famous for sliced boiled goatmeat and goatmeat dumplings.
